What: the first game of the World Cup
Where: a bar in Alghero, Sardinia
Who: me, some German dudes, a bunch of Italians and a French couple with a baby
Drink: my dear, dear Aperol spritz
So…after the tasting in Puglia I hopped over to Sardinia to see a winemaker and also for, you know, a little R & R. I had a solo day of exploring, lounging on the beach and watching the kick-off for the biggest sporting event in the world. The streets of the ancient town of Alghero were littered with cafe tables and flat screens. And a ton of loud soccer (er…football) fans. After the festivities, I made myself a little lunch. With my very own kitchen and a grocery around the corner, I came up with this…
I must say- it was a pretty delightful way to spend an afternoon! You know…life always seems more delightful, everything always tastes better, sunsets always more beautiful… in Italy.

Now that I’m over the “hating you because you went to Italy”, I’m hoping that you’ll post the recipe. I see penne, zucchini, basil, Parmesan, tomato…? What else did you include for that awesome looking dish?
Ok, I’m technically still not over the “hating you because you went to Italy” part, because I can still see that sunset picture as I’m typing this in the comment box. Sunset in Italy = WANT.
