Whitney: Our date night was great, but the responses that we’ve each come up with for your questions have been hilarious! We’ve now moved from using them as date night conversation bits to weeknight debates over the latest bottle of wine we’ve acquired (usually after the kids are in bed). We’re even thinking of having some friends over for a tasting like the one you had for this post (will have to be blind, since we found that looking at the label strangely influenced our responses). Thanks for inspiring us to look at wine in a whole new way!

This is a fantastic post! My husband and I have been trying to figure out what we like, love and hate about wines for the past few years, and while our preferences generally match, the interpretations or reasons for our opinions can vary wildly. When we try a new wine, we post our exceptionally uneducated snap judgements on a short via-email blog just so we can remember what we liked/loved/hated about the experience. I definitely prefer the questions that you asked – they were much more thought-provoking than the “So, what do you think?” that we ask each other and garnered far better responses. I hope you don’t mind if I use them tonight when my husband and I set out to our favorite wine bistro for a rare date night!

saw the post…ah, my beloved BdiM. going through tough times at the moment with an outcome yet to be seen. but, I think his is a fair assessment of a small wedge of the brunello pie. what about tenuta friggiali and la rasina? many more 2004’s to be explored even in the under $75 range that express that “true soul of sangiovese”. and 100% at that. er, we hope…..

one time I hung out with one of the Peachy Canyon brothers (I think they’re brothers) here in Austin… needless to say, many beers and other accoutrements (ahem) were involved…

his new project is Chronic Cellars (yes, Chronic!) and their flagship is their Sofaking Bueno label… genius, if you ask me, at least from a marketing POV…

on an unrelated subject, what do you think about the Brunello post by Eric today?
